Intriguing History
San Francisco struck just over 4 million Lincoln cents in 1914, a modest number compared to Philadelphia's output that year, in a country still two and a half years from entering World War I. The lower mintage has made the 1914-S a genuine semi-key date within the wheat cent series, harder to find in top condition than its mintage figure alone might suggest.
