Intriguing History
The 1873 Closed 3 is one of the rarest Philadelphia Liberty Head double eagles, while the Open 3 of the same year is one of the most common from before the mid-1890s. The 2013 Saddle Ridge Hoard held just one 1873 Closed 3, graded PCGS MS62, which tied for finest known.
