1851-O Three Cent Silver (1851-1873)

Fivaz-Stanton Attribution

Intriguing History

Introduced in 1851 to make the new three-cent postage rate easier to pay in exact change, the tiny silver "trime" was struck at New Orleans only this one year of the entire series' run, making the 1851-O the sole branch-mint issue collectors need to complete a set otherwise made up entirely of Philadelphia coins.
