This Fugio cent, the first coin authorized by the United States under the Articles of Confederation, shows a raised blob or "cud" where a worn or cracked die failed during striking, a minor manufacturing flaw from the same 1787 production run that gave the coin its Franklin-linked motto "Mind Your Business."
